Why Two License Plates??

Saturday morning a group of friends and I were headed out to work outside in East Texas, putting up hogwire, ridding the land of thorn bushes, mulching the trees, and installing plumbing for more drip lines. It’s about an hour drive from Carrollton, to past Terrell where we were headed and about 2 exits away from where we were supposed to get off, I saw a police car pull up behind me. Uh oh… I know I was speeding, but nowhere near the person right beside me going 80. Why would the police car be behind me?  I had a feeling I was to be pulled over so I just waited for his lights to turn on. As my heart rate skyrocketed, I pulled to the side of the road. “what did I do?”

Officer Bush walked over to our car and asked why I don’t have my license plate on the front of my vehicle. You see, I’m from Pennsylvania. As is my car. So I don’t have a place to put a license plate on the front of my car. Apparently in Texas, you need one on the front and the back of your vehicle. picky picky. I told the officer that my plate is in my trunk (which is was) and he asked why it wasn’t on my car. So I told him it’s because I don’t have a place to put it on the front. So he asked for my license and vehicle registration. He took my license back to his squad car and I saw him on the phone and doing something else in his car. Meanwhile one of my friends suggested we pray that the officer lets me off with a warning instead of a ticket, so we prayed.

When the officer came back He did let me off with a warning, Praise God. And now I have my license plate on the dashboard (hopefully soon to be on the front of my car). I’m thankful the officer was nice and understanding. Of course since we weren’t the only GFA people headed out to east Texas, a few other people saw me get pulled over so that was kinda embarrassing. but I’m really glad I wasn’t alone when it happened. As this was my first time ever getting pulled over, I was grateful to have friends along for the experience.🙂
